Mykonos Market Watch Update

Location: Greece, Mykonos

We continue to monitor the 4-star and 5-star market in Mykonos, as it is of particular interest in terms of diversification. The discrepancies we had pointed out in a previous post still exist and are even becoming more and more pronounced.

The chart shows the current availability of each market in yellow / orange color and in purple their weighted average averages. Our searches were conducted for a one-day stay.

We observe that the 4-star market of Mykonos differs from that of 5-star in two areas:

a) It has developed strong wave-like features with peaks occurring at the end of each week.

b) Prices peak in mid-August, while in 5-star we see strong peaks in late June to early July. We had pointed this out in a previous post, giving the most likely interpretation that these two markets may appeal to different audiences. The most recent data we have obtained confirm this position.

In conclusion, for Mykonos we see the manifestation of 2 different markets in a destination with clear individual characteristics.
